
It took place in the days of 13 and 14 June 2015 in Vienna the Congress of all the Foreign Offices of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
The Congress, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and the Head of the Department of Foreign Relations, Min. Falah Mustafa, was attended by all the representatives of Kurdistan Regional government abroad.
Before the beginning of the congress , all participants observed a
minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the peshmerga killed
during the fight against the terrorists of the Islamic state.
In his introductory speech, Minister Falah Mustafa thanked the
Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani for his kind participation
and thanked all the representatives for their work and their role
in the creation and development of constructive relations with the
countries of the international community. Minister Falah wanted to
stress the importance of this conference in order to draw up a
plan of action in order to improve the working relationship
between the Department of Foreign Relations and the representative
offices abroad and among the representative offices abroad and to
allow for greater affirmation of the Kurdish cause in the world.
He finally thanked the KRG Representation in Austria for hosting
this important conference and for having done his best in order to
ensure a successful event.
Immediately after, the intervention of the Deputy Prime Minister
Qubad Talabani who thanked in his name and on behalf of the
Kurdistan Regional Government all representatives as major organ
of the government to defend the Kurdish cause in the world.
The key points presented to the representatives were: the economic
and financial development of the country and its problems with
Baghdad, in particular the agreements reached on the oil and the
law on the budget, the evolutions on the military front and the
ongoing humanitarian crisis. These issues will be handled and
resolved through peaceful dialogue between the parties.
Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked all the countries that
are supporting Kurdistan in the fight against Daesh and invited
all representatives to exert strong pressure on the international
community to achieve greater military and humanitarian support.
The Kurdistan Region, despite being very proud of the efforts
made, is hosting 1 million 800 thousand refugees and therefore
requires greater sacrifices from the international community, the
United Nations and humanitarian organizations. In this context the
Representatives abroad have, undoubtedly, a decisive role.
The Deputy Prime Minister then left the floor to individual
representatives to present the activities realized, achievements,
difficulties and problems encountered and suggestions for
improvements in the conduct of political – diplomatic, economic
and cultural relations with the host countries
