Today, the High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government to
Italy and to the Holy See, received at the Representative Office in
Rome the Italian Consul General in Erbil, Alessandra Di Pippo.
The talks focused about the relations between Italy and the Kurdistan
Region, the current situation in the Region, the fight against Daesh
terrorists and the ongoing humanitarian and economic crisis.
Mrs. Kader conveyed his gratitude to the Italian government and people
for their support to the Kurdistan Region highlighting the role of
Italy, actively engaged within the international coalition, and
thanked the Consul for his activity in Erbil, hoping to increase
cooperation between the two respective offices.
The Consul General Di Pippo, appointed few months ago, stated that
Italy and the European community in general highly appreciate the role
of the Kurdistan Region entirely engaged in military operations
against the terrorists of the Islamic State. She praised the role of
the Peshmerga forces in the war against ISIS and expressed
appreciation of the people and government for accommodating and
assisting a large number of refugees and displaced persons.
