Visit of the leader of the People of Freedom group in the European Parliament , Hon. Mario Mauro

On Monday, February 4, Dr. Rezan Kader received a visit from the leader of the People of Freedom group in the European Parliament , Hon. Mario Mauro, at the Representative Office of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

The Hon. Mauro was very pleased to be invited by the High Representative to the Kurdish house where he gave an interview that will later be presented in Kurdistan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the commemoration of the genocide of the Kurdish people.

The Honourable Member is a great expert and connoisseur of the geopolitical situation in the Middle East and expressed to Dr Kader his deep concern for the stability of the area in the face of a series of problems, such as the deployment of the military contingent in the Kirkuk area, the situation of Syrian refugees and relations between Baghdad and Erbil.

Furthermore, the Hon. Mauro emphasized the important mediation role played by President Barzani in maintaining peace and stability throughout the Middle East.

Finally, the Hon. Mauro launched an appeal to Italian and European institutions, and especially to civil society, to support the petition for recognition of the genocide of the Kurdish people, a people who have been deprived of their rights for too long and whom Europe, through its partnership with Iraq, must help enforce.
