Today, Minister Falah Mustafa, along with Dr. Rezan Kader, met with a delegation representing the Kurdish community in the South Tyrol region at the Representative Office of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Italy.
The delegation addressed the issues facing the Kurdish community in South Tyrol to the Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Affairs: the possibility of having a school to teach the Kurdish language to their children; and the possibility of financial support for the Kurdish cultural association DIACO to carry out socio-cultural activities for the Iraqi Kurdish community living in South Tyrol, such as publishing a periodical and organizing events to promote awareness of the Kurdistan Region from an economic, cultural, and tourism perspective.
Representatives of the Kurdish community in the South Tyrol region then discussed the political situation in the Kurdistan Region and the crucial role of the Kurdish community living in Europe, and particularly in Italy, in the creation of the new Kurdistan. For this reason, the delegation invited Minister Falh to consider how to promote the Kurdish community living outside Kurdistan and what role it can play in strengthening relations with the Government.
Minister Falah stated that the Kurdish community living abroad must serve as a strong point of reference for increasing awareness of the Kurdish people, their history, and their culture. Therefore, the Government must ensure that they are supported and promoted at all levels in the most appropriate manner.
