On March 11, Dr. Rezan Kader, the High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq in Italy, received two renowned international Kurdish artists, Ata Kazaz and Amad Baldin, at the Representative Office.
Mr. Kazaz, born in Suleimania in Iraqi Kurdistan, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Perugia with a degree in painting and sculpture. He has exhibited his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. His colleague, Amad Baldin, who lives and works in the Netherlands, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and Florence, where he graduated before studying modern art at the University of Bologna.

The backdrop for their works is the tragedy experienced by the Kurdish people.
The genocide, culminating in the massacre in the town of Halabja 26 years ago, the anniversary of which falls this week, is the dominant theme of their work. The artists' desire is to ensure that one of the darkest chapters in human history is not forgotten by engaging an ever-growing international audience.
It is within this context that the proposal, jointly advanced by Dr. Kader and the two artists, to organize a benefit exhibition to benefit the thousands of Syrian refugees in the Kurdistan Region, fits in.
Through the presentation of their paintings, the artists will document the culture, traditions, and suffering of the Kurdish people, with the aim of raising public awareness. Proceeds from the works sold will be donated to the Kurdistan Regional Government, which is committed to assisting Syrian refugees.
The exhibition will be held in Rome and promoted by the Representation of the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq in Italy.
