
Today, Senate President Piero Grasso, accompanied by the Italian Ambassador to Baghdad and the rest of the Italian delegation—composed of President Grasso's International Affairs Advisor, Dr. Rosario Salvatore Aitala; the President's Spokesperson, Dr. Alessandro Pasquini; Dr. Claudio Tosi; and the Italian Embassy Military Attaché, Col. Alfonso Manfredi—landed at Erbil International Airport.
He was received by Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani; Sherzad Azad, Head of the Protocol Office; Safeen Dizayee, Spokesperson for the Prime Minister; Minister Falah Mustafa, Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Rezan Kader, High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Italy; and the newly appointed Italian Consul in Erbil, Dr. Alessandra Di Pippo.
President Grasso will attend the inauguration of the Italian Consulate in Erbil and will then attend a welcome dinner at the invitation of Prime Minister Barzani. On December 23, he is scheduled to meet with Regional President Masoud Barzani and visit the Ainkawa IDP camp and the Italian military training center, where he will meet with the Italian commander.
