Official meeting between the President of the Senate of the Republic, HE Pietro Grasso, and the President of the Kurdistan Region, HE Masoud Barzani.

Today, the President of the Senate of the Republic, Pietro Grasso, received an official visit from the President of the Kurdistan Region, His Excellency Masoud Barzani. He was accompanied by the President's Chief of Staff, Dr. Fuad Hussein; the Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Minister Falah Mustafa; the Director General for Christian Affairs of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dr. Khalid Alber; and the High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Italy, Dr. Rezan Kader.

The parties discussed the political prospects for Kurdistan in the aftermath of the elections in Iraq, the Syrian conflict, and bilateral relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region.

President Grasso and the President of the Kurdistan Region shared the hope that negotiations between Iraq's various political forces will be successfully concluded and that a government capable of managing the difficult transition can be formed.
President Grasso and President Barzani both pledged their commitment to further strengthening the already excellent bilateral economic relations.
