On Monday, February 4th, Mrs. Rezan Kader received the visit of the leader of the Italian party “Popolo della Libertà” to the European Parliament, Hon. Mario Walter Mauro at the Representation office of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

The Hon. Mauro was delighted to have been invited by the High Representative at the House of Kurds where gave an interview which will be subsequently presented in Kurdistan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the commemoration of the genocide of the Kurdish people.

The Hon. Mauro is a great expert of Middle Eastern geopolitical situation and showed to Mrs. Kader its deep concern for the stability of the area due to a number issues, such as the deployment of the military contingent in Kirkuk, the situation of  Syrian refugees and the relations between Baghdad and Erbil. In addition, the Hon. Mauro noted the important role of mediation undertaken by President Barzani in order to maintain peace and stability throughout the Middle East.

Finally, the Hon. Mauro has appealed to Italian and European institutions and civil society in order to support the petition for the recognition of the genocide of the Kurdish people, a people too long defrauded of his rights and that Europe through partnership with Iraq must help enforce.
