Today, the High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Italy, Mrs. Rezan Kader was received by the Under - Secretary of State to the Minister of Justice, Hon. Gennaro Migliore at the Ministry of Justice in Rome.

The talks focused on relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region, the current situation in the Kurdistan Region, the fight against the terrorists Daesh, the serious humanitarian and economic crisis in progress. The Italian Government - stressed Mrs. Kader - plays a leading role within the international coalition, as well as on the military and humanitarian level. However, the situation has also become unsustainable due to lack of support from the central government in Baghdad. Moreover, the High Representative got Hon. Migliore involved in the issue of the recognition of the Kurdish genocide of 1988 under the dictatorship of Saddam Hussein and the current one perpetrated by ISIS terrorists in the Italian competent fora, and at European and international level.

The Hon. Migliore said to be a duty of all countries to restore peace, ensure freedom of every human being and recognize injustices that have been inflicted on the Kurdish people, considered, moreover, crimes against humanity. The Kurdish people are courageous people who always defended the values of freedom, democracy, equality for all regardless of ethnic – religious membership. Italy has an important role in the coalition and is trying to attract more and more international attention to the crisis that is going through the Iraqi Kurdistan. He promised to commit to sensitize the relevant authorities on the legal recognition of Kurdish genocide and evaluate any actions that the Ministry of Justice can carry out directly, for example by starting a inter-judiciary cooperation between their countries.
