Today, the High Representative of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Italy, Mrs. Rezan Kader met with H.E. Min. Emma Bonino at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Min. Plen. Stefano Queirolo Palmas and Cons. Roberto Neccia, Diplomatic Officials of the Directorate General for Political Affairs and Security - Office IX, competent for the Middle East and Gulf Countries.

Mrs. Kader led to Min. Bonino the greetings of President Masoud Barzani and of Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani. During the meeting, they especially discussed on the Syrian crisis and the refugees situation. Iraqi Kurdistan opened up its borders not only to Syrian Kurds but to all the people who need aid. Camps have been organized, even with the help of the UN, with funds from the UNHCR and UNICEF, but Iraqi Kurdistan is only a tiny plot of land; and alone cannot deal with all of the resulting problems. Moreover, it is important to consider that winter is coming and we all need to find a more permanent solution.

Minister Bonino is concerned about the created political and humanitarian scenario. In any case, she will totally support the Iraqi Kurdistan to address this emergency. Everyone will do its part, but she confirmed to do as much as possible, to be close to the people.
Furthermore they discussed about the present political and economic situation of the Iraqi Kurdistan. It is important to strengthen cooperation between Italy and Kurdistan.
Mrs. Kader reiterated the importance of the moral support and Min. Bonino has finally reaffirmed the utmost attention of the Italian Government to Iraqi Kurdistan at political commercial and humanitarian level.
