The Minister Renzi said he arrived as president of the European Semester as well as Italian prime minister.
Because of violence unleashed by the jihadists Isis, Italy decided to do its best in this crisis considering it one of the objectives of the Italian Presidency in the EU in order to ensure that Europe speaks with one voice in foreign policy. "Europe - is the belief of Renzi - is not only Maastricht and spread, together we will win the fight against terrorism."
After the interview with the President of the Kurdistan Region, Min. Renzi, always accompanied by Mrs. Kader, went to visit the refugee camp of Bahrka, where there are 450 families. The Premier spoke to representatives of United Nations agencies such as UNICEF and some refugees who asked not to be abandoned by Europe.
Renzi's visit took place while in Rome the foreign affairs and defense committees of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate have come together to vote the authorization to send weapons to the Kurds.
Following the resolution no. 1270 of the Security Council of the United Nations of August 16 us and the unanimously adopted conclusions of the Foreign Affairs Council on 15 August in Brussels on sending military aid to the Kurds in the context of the crisis in Iraq, with the consent of the Iraqi authorities, the Italian Parliament is totally in line with international and European directives. The Foreign Minister Mogherini, in agreement with the Minister of Defence Pinotti, outlined to MPs the three guidelines of the Italian position in the Iraqi crisis: delivery of humanitarian aid in synergy with the rest of Europe, the provision of military aid to the Kurds and strong support in the political constitution of a new order in Iraq that must be inclusive of all ethnic and religious components and that must be able to guarantee the territorial integrity of the country, not representing anymore a threat to themselves and to the entire Middle East and at a global level. The Minister Mogherini emphasized that it is a political and moral duty to support the Kurdistan Regional government, who is facing a humanitarian emergency of enormous size, being put at risk the principle of civil society and peaceful coexistence.
'' In name of the friendship between our peoples and for the freedom and peace in the entire region, against fanaticism and violence '. This is what the premier Matteo Renzi wrote in the guest book of the presidential palace in Erbil.
The Minister Renzi assured the refugees that Italy and Europe will provide all the necessary support to enable them to return to their homes by restoring a mosaic of peace that the Kurdistan Region is.
