On October 03, the Secretary-General of the Kurdistan Patriotic Union (PUK) and former Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, at the age of 83, passed away.
The Representation of the Kurdistan Regional Government in Italy in co-operation with representatives of the Kurdistan Patriotic Union and the Kurdish community in Italy has organized a funeral vigil for anyone wishing to honour one of the key leaders in the emancipation of the Kurdistan Region and in the history of Iraq.
They came to express deepest condolences for the loss of President Talabani, members of the Italian Government, representatives of the diplomatic missions in Rome, friends of the International Socialist and many other authorities, who recalled the characteristics of a great statesman who distinguished himself for forethought and ability to look ahead, but also a fierce fighter in the struggle for freedom, self-determination and the well-being of his people.
That his loss would be a moment of reflection in order to restore peace and stability in the area of Middle East.
